Within the framework of the collaboration agreement between Deusto and the Gondra Barandiarán Foundation to support the conservation of the historical-artistic heritage of the University, the academic center inaugurated on March 5 the Gondra and Barandiaran halls, two newly renovated spaces. In appreciation of their patronage in the refurbishment of these rooms, Guillermo Barandiarán Alday and Victoria Gondra Oraá have been honored with their names.
The Barandiaran Hall is located in the cloister of the Auditorium, in the former premises of the Communication and Marketing Department and, previously, the Administration Department. It is equipped with the latest technologies (hybrid equipment, sound walls, cameras, high-resolution screens...) and is conceived as a multifunctional space for events, meetings and group work, with a capacity for 100 people.
The Gondra Room, on the other hand, is the new name given to the hitherto known as the Visitor's Room. After its renovation and modernization, it will have similar uses to those it had until now, as an institutional space or for the reception of authorities.
The Rector, Juan José Etxeberria, accompanied by members of the Board of Trustees of the Gondra Barandiarán Foundation and the people responsible for the Deusto Spaces Commission, participated in the inauguration of these rooms and their blessing by Peio Azpitarte.
The mission of the Gondra Barandiarán Foundation is to develop, protect and promote all kinds of scientific, technical, artistic and cultural activities, and especially to promote the conservation of historical and artistic heritage. Hence its interest in supporting Deusto in the financing of initiatives and projects of various kinds to achieve these goals, without forgetting collaboration through scholarships and grants.
