With the aim of further enhancing international collaboration and expanding its academic partnership network, the University of Deusto took part in the NAFSA 2025 Annual Conference, held from May 27 to 30 in San Diego, California.
This year’s theme, “Purpose, Place, and Partnership, was focused on three key pillars: reconnecting with the mission and social impact of international education; embracing students' geographical and cultural contexts and their engagement with both local and global communities; and building strong alliances to collectively address global challenges.
As part of the Study in Spain pavilion, the University of Deusto was represented by Itziar Muñoz and Samiha Chemli (from the CIDE – International Spanish Centre), María López (from the International Relations Office), and Óscar Martínez (Vice Dean of International Relations, Faculty of Health Sciences). The delegation held meetings with over 40 international higher education institutions, exploring new collaboration opportunities, particularly in areas related to community integration, sustainability, and the promotion of meaningful educational environments.
The conference featured more than 250 sessions, including keynote speeches, workshops, exhibitions, and poster presentations. Many of the sessions focused on topics such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the role of artificial intelligence in international education, and inclusive practices.
