At the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, DEUSTO eVida research group has been interviewed for the ABC newspaper.
The eVida research group aims to apply technology advances to health and to improve the quality of life of people with special needs. It is an international and multidisciplinary team that is led by a woman (Begoña García-Zapirain, Principal Researcher) and composed of a majority of woman. The team is also committed to improve women ratios in STEM disciplines and is fully aligned with the objectives of DEUSTO interdisciplinary research platform on Gender
In the interview, the members of the eVida research group highlighted that their main motivation is to apply their knowledge in areas that have an impact on people. That is why they work with people with health problems, special needs and the elderly.
They also made reference to the activities carried out in the framework of DEUSTO interdisciplinary research platform on Ageing and Wellbeing and in particular in its objective to look for technology solutions to help the elderly having a more autonomous life. They gave as examples the European project SUNFRAIL, FRED and the new project AAL DAPAS, ViveWeb among others. They highlighted the importance of collaborating with external stakeholders, such as hospitals, public administrations and associations.
