Last Friday, 10 October, the University of Deusto celebrated the achievements of 18 people with autism who completed their training on the Lanberri 2024–2025 graphic arts programme, an initiative supporting access to employment promoted by the Biscay Provincial Council and run by Apnabi Lan.

The diploma award ceremony took place in the Oteiza Hall at Bizkaia Aretoa and was attended by Nerea Gutiérrez, Vice-Dean for International and Institutional Relations at the Faculty of Education and Sport of the University of Deusto; Mikel Pulgarín, President of Apnabi Lan; and Teresa Laespada, Provincial Deputy for Employment, Social Cohesion and Equality.

For the last seven years, the Diversity Unit of the University of Deusto has been collaborating with Apnabi Lan, offering the university campus as an internship centre for students participating in the programme. Thanks to this collaboration, people with autism have the opportunity to gain professional experience in the field of graphic arts, in an inclusive environment that supports their personal development and future access to employment.

The Lanberri programme, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, has become a benchmark in the training and employability of people with autism. The University of Deusto thus reaffirms its commitment to diversity, equal opportunities and social inclusion, contributing to the development of a fairer and more participatory university community.
