Deusto and educational institutions in the Basque Country have jointly defined the level indicators in Social Sciences students must have when entering University

Last 16 June, a total of 36 educational institutions in the Basque country, 20 from Vizcaya, 12 from Gipuzkoa, and 4 from Alava, took part in the presentation of two collaborative projects between the University and the educational institutions, held at the University of Deusto.The University has been commissioned by the European Commission to work out a European framework for social sciences, which involves defining the level indicators in Social Sciences students must have when entering the university.The collaboration of educational institutions is essential in this task.With regard to the second project, it seeks to integrate disadvantaged groups such as immigrants into the university.

The Vice-Rectors at Deusto, Julia González Ferreras, for International Relations, and Mª Begoña Arrieta Heras, for Academic Organisation, presented these projects to secondary education representatives. In addition, these projects may lead to future collaborations in initiatives promoted by the University or by educational institutions regarding issues such as projects with educational institutions in other fields, the internationalisation of educational establishments, and language improvement projects.These projects were very well received by the educational institutions, whose first working groups are expected to begin their activity shortly.
