The University of Deusto has hosted between the 16th and the 20th of May 2022 the Deusto International Staff Week New Trends in Higher Education. For the very first time, the Staff Week. has been offered in a hybrid format. This event has gathered 29 professionals from the Higher Education sphere, 16 were present in BIlbao and 13 online, representing a total of 24 universities from 21 countries in Africa, America, Asia and Europe.
During the 5 days event , the attendees have had the opportunity to learn and debate around the new trends in Higher Education. The programme has evolved around the following daily topics:
-"Higher Education trends in the Basque Country" by Adolfo Morais, vice-minister of Universities and Research Basque Government, Basque Country
- "Internationalization and University Strategy", presented by Eduardo Ruiz, vice-rector for University Strategy and Olga Villa, strategy area director at the University of Deusto
- "Interculturally in the classroom experiences", with Luana Ferreira, from the Teaching Innovation Unit at the University of Deusto
- "Lifelong Learning and Dual programmes" by Irene Cuesta Lifelong Learning and Dual Unit director from the University of Deusto
- "Inclusiveness in Higher Education Institutions: UCC case study", presented by the University College Cork, Ireland´s experts Armida de la Garza, Cliona Maher and Emma Connolly
Great work dynamics have generated after the presentation made by each of the specialists leading to debates and experiences exchanges on how each institution faces different issues.
The agenda has also foreseen daily presentations from the Faculties of the University of Deusto as well as the exposition of some good practices cases from the International Relations Vicerrectorate.
In the case of the on campus programme, the sessions where held in our campus in Bilbao and in San Sebastián, together with different social and cultural activities, contributing to the networking between the on campus attendees.
To sum up, this has been an international week that has allowed an opportunity to reflect on different common challenges that we face at international level, sharing good practices around internationalization and strengthening the cooperation network between universities.
