Begoña García-Zapirain receives first award “Women and Technology” from the Orange Foundation

The Orange Foundation has awarded Begoña García-Zapirain, principal researcher of the e-LIFE research group and member of the Interdisciplinary Research Plaftorm on Ageing and Wellbeing of the University of Deusto, with the first award “Woman and technology”, a recognition that highlights women who work in the areas of social innovation and communication technology and are leaders in the development and transformation of society.

The award recognizes in Begoña García-Zapirain the commitment of the new technologies to improve the quality of life of people by helping to improve treatment and monitoring of diseases and problems associated with disability. As Begoña highlighted: "Technology can help improve the quality of life ofpeople as long as it is co-designed by all stakeholders. In our case, all successful cases have the cooperation of patients, doctors, family members or caregivers and engineers who implement the technology solution.";

The award ceremony was held on March 12 in Segovia, in the framework of the "VI Encounters Women who change the world", organized by the town council.
