Atresmedia Foundation and the University of Deusto have signed a collaboration agreement to launch their first Expert Diploma in Digital Well-Being and Prevention in Adolescence and Youth, a programme designed to promote the healthy, safe and responsible use of technology in socio-educational settings.
Patricia Pérez, Corporate General Director of Atresmedia and Director of the Atresmedia Foundation, and Isabel Rubio, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Sport at the University of Deusto, signed the agreement on 25 March at the audiovisual group’s headquarters, reinforcing both organisations’ commitment to the education and digital well-being of children and young people, as well as to the training of their teachers.
The creation of this programme responds to a growing need for professionals capable of addressing the challenges posed by the digital environment in adolescence and youth. In this context, the alliance combines the academic expertise of the University of Deusto with the support of the Atresmedia Foundation, which will help broaden the programme’s reach by promoting it and facilitating student access through a scholarship scheme, in line with its commitment to fostering media, information and digital literacy skills across society.
Patricia Pérez stated: “At Atresmedia Foundation, we work to promote media, information and digital literacy among adolescents and young people through teachers, families and society as a whole. This agreement with the University of Deusto represents a further step in that commitment, by facilitating the training of professionals equipped to support young people in an increasingly complex and demanding digital environment.”
For her part, Isabel Rubio highlighted: “This strategic alliance allows us to combine the academic rigour of our Faculty with the awareness-raising capacity of a leading organisation in digital literacy, such as Atresmedia Foundation. Thanks to this collaboration, the programme is founded not only on a solid scientific basis, but also on a practical, up-to-date vision that is closely aligned with the realities of digital consumption. Together, we ensure that this programme equips education professionals with the tools they need to enhance young people’s capabilities without compromising their physical or emotional well-being.”
A pioneering qualification to address the challenges of digital well-being
The Expert in Digital Well-Being and Prevention in Adolescence and Youth aims to train professionals in the socio-educational field who are capable of analysing, designing and implementing strategies for prevention, awareness-raising and guidance in the use of technology.
The programme addresses issues such as the responsible use of social media, the prevention of problematic screen use, intervention in situations such as cyberbullying or digital overexposure, as well as the promotion of healthy technology habits that support the emotional, cognitive and social well-being of adolescents and young people. The Expert Diploma also places particular emphasis on collaboration between schools, families and the wider community as a key pillar in building safer and more inclusive digital environments.
This programme is aimed at university graduates in the fields of education, psychology and the social sciences, as well as professionals working in educational and community settings related to children and young people. Those interested in taking the programme may submit their application via this link until 30 April.
Atresmedia Foundation, in line with its mission to promote media, information and digital literacy, will support the development of this degree, promoting its dissemination and financially supporting students to facilitate their access to this programme. In this way, Atresmedia Foundation contributes to broadening the reach of this initiative and strengthening the training of professionals who work with children and young people.
A day to address the impact of hyperconnectivity on young people
On the occasion of the launch of this new diploma, the University of Deusto will hold the event “Digital well-being and mental health of adolescents and young people” on 27 March. The session is aimed at professionals in the educational, health and social sectors, providing an opportunity to examine the challenges posed by hyperconnectivity in youth development and to offer intervention tools to identify risk and protective factors in the digital environment and the mental health of adolescents and young people.
The session, which can be attended both in person and online, will combine panel discussions with practical activities, such as the A90Grados “Escape Room,” an immersive exercise designed to explore prevention concepts.
