Angels Barceló closed the EiTB-Deusto MA in Communication ceremony

The Catalan journalist Angels Barceló was in charge of closing the first MA course, jointly organised by the Arts Faculty at the University of Deusto in San Sebastian and EiTB. During the closing ceremony held last 7 June, 29 graduates were awarded the Diplomas after successfully completing this Postgraduate course in business, institutional and audiovisual communication. Thus, this brings to an end an academic year during which students have combined their stay at an organisation carrying out a communication project, with theoretical learning at University. This training involves the whole communication process, and it has examined issues such as social diagnosis, communication planning, message writing, management, leadership and assessment.News

During the main part of the event, Barceló, the current director of the "A vivir que son dos días" programme on the Ser radio station, gave a lecture on ?The profile of the good communicator". In her lecture, the journalist pointed out the three qualities that characterise a good communicator: the need to understand and to know what happens, curiosity and humility. We, as journalists, ?are privileged for having the opportunity to be able to tell what happens", an opportunity which is not shared by the rest of the citizens. The journalist expressed concern about the current course taken by the media, in which there is no longer room for people who have much to say. Following a short reflective crisis in her career, she is now pleased to work on a radio programme in which she can interview people who have much to say, and with whom topics can be discussed at great length.

This event was chaired by José María Guibert, UD vice-rector in Gipuzkoa, Andoni Ortúzar, EiTB director-general, José Angel Achón, Dean of the Arts Faculty, and Juan Pagola, MA course co-director.
