The University of Deusto has participated with a large number of papers and teaching staff in the HOPE'25 Congress, which was held at the Seville campus of the Loyola Andalucía University from 4 to 6 June 2025. This Congress responds to the call of Fr Arturo Sosa SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, to deepen the collaborative effort of Jesuit universities in the field of teaching, research and public advocacy with the aim of achieving a more just society and a more reconciled world.

The congress provided a platform for academics from Jesuit universities around the world to share their research in areas aligned with the mission of the Society of Jesus and to lay the foundations for the development of multidisciplinary collaborative projects. In this regard, Deusto’s participating faculty presented a large number of papers across all thematic areas of the congress, including several with a strong interdisciplinary focus.

Furthermore, the University has activated collaborative networks to develop research projects in areas linked to the Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus, the Identity and Mission of Jesuit Universities in general and of Deusto in particular. The Congress organisers have facilitated the publication of special issues in indexed scientific journals to feature the highest-quality papers presented at the event, ensuring wide academic dissemination of the results discussed.

The HOPE’´25 Congress was held in collaboration with the UNIJES network, the European Kircher Network of Jesuit Universities, and the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU), and will continue in future editions. The Rector's Office of the University has strongly supported faculty participation in this Congress, which links high-quality research with the Mission and Identity of the University of Deusto.
