Dr. David Buján Carballal is a Computer Engineer (2000) from the University of Deusto and holds a Master’s in e-Business (2001) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2016) from the same university. He teaches in the university’s Faculty of Engineering (Operating Systems, Web Engineering, Software Processes and Quality) and serves as Coordinator of the Computer Science Departmental Area. He belongs to the MORElab research group and to DEUSTEK, a research group recognized within the Basque university system, associated with the DeustoTech research institute. His main research areas include Linked Data (Web of Data), the Social Web and the Semantic Web in the field of web and semantic technologies, as well as Blockchain and Grid Computing in the field of distributed resources and systems. He is the author of several presentations at national and international scientific meetings, as well as journal articles, talks and book chapters, and he serves as a reviewer for several international conferences. He has collaborated on various national and international research projects, as well as on demand-driven projects for the private sector. He deepened his expertise in semantic and Web 2.0 technologies during a stay with the Information Management Group at the University of Manchester, and in Grid and Cloud computing through visits to several leading national and international centers, including UCM, CESGA, IFCA, and the University of Westminster. He also collaborates on initiatives to foster STEM careers and serves as Head of Teams for FIRST LEGO League Euskadi at the Bilbao venue (University of Deusto).
