Ander Barbier Ibáñez is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Deputy to the Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation at the University of Deusto. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the same institution and has a professional career spanning over 25 years in development, management, and teaching within the fields of Information Systems and technological innovation. In the initial stage of his career, which began in 1999 at the Faculty of Engineering, he combined university teaching with research in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and digital accessibility. In 2009, he shifted his career focus toward technology management within the university, where he has led the implementation of numerous technological platforms—including management systems as well as teaching and research support tools—and has held key leadership positions, such as Deputy Director of the IT Services Department (2022–2025). In 2025, following the restructuring of the department into the current Information Technology Unit, he was appointed CIO and Deputy to the Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation. In these roles, he actively participates in the design and execution of the institution's global digital transformation strategy. That same year, he further strengthened his executive leadership expertise by completing the Executive Program in General Management (PEDG) at Deusto Business School. Since the 2024/2025 academic year, he has been teaching the course Information Systems for Management in the Master’s Degree in Industrial Organization Engineering, bringing into the classroom his extensive firsthand experience in information systems implementation, strategic decision-making, and organizational digital transformation.
