The Aristos Mundus Campus of International Excellence (ACM) issued the call for the third edition of the Good Practices Award for University Development Cooperation; the Ignacio Ellacuría Awards for Social Interest Studies and the Good Practices Award for University Social Commitment. The submission date for entries for the three awards was 26 June 2015 and the juries met to assess the works and make their final judgment.
These awards are set within the Aristos Mundus Campus of International Excellence (ACM) through which Deusto, Comillas ICAI-ICADE and Ramon Llull have pledged to strive for quality and excellence in education and research, share experiences and develop joint endeavours.
ACM University Social Commitment Award
The jury formed by Chairman Javier Márquez (Pontifical University of Comillas), Secretary Luz María Maceira Ochoa (University of Deusto) and members at large Juan Ignacio Pagola Carte (University of Deusto), Jaime Lombana ( Comillas alumnus) and José Sols Lucia (IQS- Ramon Llull University) met on 8 July. This call aims to acknowledge and disseminate students’ work which includes a social improvement perspective (in theory or practice).
The jury made the following decision in the sole category: “Actions completed or underway which drive university social commitment and can be considered good practices”. The first prize went to the work entitled Learning and ICAI Service, for the field project Dissemination, Awareness and Mobilisation by the following authors: Míriam Pons Matilla and Mariam Millán Hernández. No second prize was awarded.
Good Practices Award for ACM University Development Cooperation
On 8 July, the jury formed by Chairman María Teresa Guzmán (Alboan ONGD, at the proposal of the University of Deusto), Secretary Joaquín Eguren (Pontifical University of Comillas, Institute of Studies on Migration) and members at large Isabel Pérez (Blanquerna Salut- Ramon Llull University), Albert Florensa (IQS- Ramon Llull University) and Ricardo Navas ( ICAI Foundation for Development at the proposal of the Pontifical University of Comillas) met. .
This award aims to acknowledge and disseminate the work of students that contributes to research and knowledge transfer in University Development Cooperation. Proposals from different areas of knowledge (the humanities, social sciences, health sciences and technologies) were accepted.
The jury decided to award the following prizes in the two categories:
In the first category, "Undergraduate projects", the first prize went to How to Set Up Learning Communities in the Za’atari (Jordan) Refugee Camp by Almudena Rodríguez Garrido. The second prize in this category was not awarded. The work entitled Business Plan in AGROBENIN by Patricia Pareja Rodríguez-Borlado received Special Mention.
In the second category "Postgraduate projects", first prize went to Policy coherence for development. Analysis of its inclusion in debate in the Congress of Deputies by Miriam Segovia Moreno. The second prize in this category was not awarded.
Ignacio Ellacuría Awards for Social Interest Studies
On 8 and 20 July, the jury formed by Chairman Óscar Mateos (Pere Tarrés - Ramon Llull University), Secretary Cristina de la Cruz (University of Deusto, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences) and members at large Miguel González ( Ignacio Ellacuría Foundation, at the proposal of the University of Deusto), Irene Claro (Pontifical University of Comillas, Law Faculty) and Jaime Pons (EAPN Madrid, at the proposal of the Pontifical University of Comillas) met.
This call aims to acknowledge and disseminate students’ work which includes a social improvement perspective (in theory or practice). Two categories were proposed and the jury decided to award the following prizes:
In the first category, “Undergraduate projects”, the first prize went to Interpretation services for victims of gender violence in Madrid, by Patricia García García and Andrea Schäpers.
The second prize was awarded to the project Conditioned monetary transfers and improvement of social indicators. An analysis of two Latin American cases by Alexia Delclaux Gaytán de Ayala.
The jury awarded two Special Mentions to the following projects: Autismo Espektro Nahastea Lehen Hezkuntzako Eskola Inklusiboan. Ingeleseko irakasgaian erantzuteko proposamen didaktikoa; by Ainhoa Gabika Unamuno and Marta García Setién; and the project entitled The written press and interculturality: an analysis based on the Charlie Hebdo attacks by Garazi Alkorta Uzkudun.
In the second category, “Postgraduate projects”, the first prize went to Care, a group response to the housing problem by María Monjas Carro´. The second prize in this category was not awarded.
