Antonio Manrique de Luna Barrios, Professor of Public International Law and International Organisations at the University of Deusto, took part in the second International Congress "Systems of Justice, Constitutionalism and Human Rights" organised by the Legal Institute of the University of Infante Dom Henrique.
During the event, Manrique de Luna, a member of this Portuguese legal institute, gave a paper titled “Protection of indigenous people's fundamental rights in the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Peru".
This lecturer from the UD Law Faculty underlined the need to show real political willingness that would make it possible to acknowledge indigenous peoples as citizens with full rights and insisted on the need to set up regulations and control mechanisms to stop violation of their fundamental rights.
