The 11th Financial Conference of Deusto Business School explores new opportunities to transform the Basque financial sector

Deusto Business School and Deusto Business Alumni once again held the 11th Financial Conference, which, in collaboration with Kutxabank Investment and Bilbao Plaza Financiera, was entitled ‘Reinventing the Financial Sector: From Scotland to the Basque Country’. The meeting aimed to explore new opportunities in the sector and learn from successful experiences.

Sandy Begbie, Chairman of Scottish Financial Enterprise, spoke about how Scotland's financial sector had been able to transform and reinvent itself in the face of major historical challenges. He also explained the usefulness of institutionalising the financial cluster in attracting foreign investment and retaining talent and productive capital.

Jon Ander de las Fuentes, president of the Basque financial and investment cluster, BasqueFIK, also participated with a presentation in which he gave details of the objectives of the new Basque financial cluster, which included the consolidation of the Basque Country as an attractive territory for investment, the competitive and sustainable transformation of the financial ecosystem, and the promotion of innovative initiatives in legislative measures.

The programme was completed by Anton Arriola, President of Kutxabank, who gave the opening address, and Noël d'Anjou, Minister of the Treasury and Finance of the Basque Government, who was responsible for closing the day.
