Gender Interdisciplinary Research Platform organises the event “Dialogue on Human Trafficking as a Form of Violence Against Women”

On 27 November 2018, the Gender Interdisciplinary Research Platform organised the event “Dialogue on Human Trafficking as a Form of Violence Against Women”, gathering more than 50 persons from the academia, NGOs supporting the victims, Law Enforcement Agencies and prosecution services.

The event was organised as an interactive exchange between speakers and the public and is aligned with the European Strategy to Fight Human Trafficking. It tried to answer to the so called: 4 Ps strategy:

  • to Prevent the phenomenon by bringing the reality of trafficking closer to university staff and students and raising awareness of its importance.
  • thanks to the intervention of State Security Forces’ representatives, the event served to discuss how they address the Prosecution of criminals.
  • the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Red Cross representatives illustrated how the penal and social system Protects or tries to Protect the victims of trafficking.
  • finally, Save the Children presentation showed the importance of partnering and international cooperation actions to ensure effective action from the very beginning.
