Fernando García de Cortázar wins the National History of Spain Award

Fernando García de Cortazar, professor of Contemporary History, has won the 2008 National History of Spain Award for a book where he suggests a journey through the Spanish art from prehistory. ?Historia de España desde el Arte?, with over 500 photographs and reproductions of works of art, starts from the Altamira cave right through to today. This award, worth 20,000 euros, seeks to recognise the study and research on topics related to the history of Spain in order to disseminate the outcomes.News

Professor García de Cortázar is an academician of the Royal Academy of History, and director of the Grupo-Correo Foundation. His works include: ?Breve Historia de España?, ?El Antiguo Régimen y la Edad Contemporánea? or ?Nacionalismos e historia, los mitos de la historia de España?. For television he has directed the series ?Memoria de España?, and he was also co-author of ?España en Guerra?.
