To what extent have COVID-19 policies influenced gender inequalities in Europe? What proposals and actions can be taken to implement inclusive crisis management? The European project RESISTIRÉ aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the negative impacts of COVID-19 policies on gender inequalities in EU countries (plus Serbia, Turkey and the UK); as well as to identify inspiring practices of civil society organisations and policies that mitigate the impact of these policies.

On 20 September, the University hosted a conference to reflect jointly with political actors and civil society actors on the lessons learned, success stories and pending challenges. The meeting focused on women's representation, diversity and inclusion in decision-making; care work and telework; and gender-based violence in the EU and at national level. Other topics addressed included inclusive crisis management, gender-based violence in crises, women's representation in recovery and resilience planning, and the struggle for social justice.

The session was opened by María López Belloso, PI of the RESISTIRE Project at the University of Deusto, Sergio Murillo, from Social Action of the Biscay Regional Council and Aizpea Otaegi, Mayor of Errenteria. Speakers at the session included Remedios Cruz Blanco, an expert from the Office for Equality and Gender Violence of the municipal area of Rio Blanco (Extremadura) and Sonia Gorbeña, from Bizitegi: Association for the protection of people in situations of social exclusion, among others.
