The President of Globalvía, Juan Béjar, was the speaker at the February lunch of the PLPE and PLCE entrepreneurship lunches provided jointly by the Deusto Business School and ICADE Business School which, on this occasion, took place at the latter’s head offices.
The President of this company from the infrastructures sector, which was founded in 2007 with a view to leading concession management in transport infrastructures, spoke to those present at the lunch about the future of construction companies and about what in his opinion are currently the main business trends – trends which, on the one hand, have led construction companies to diversify in different sectors of activity and, on the other, are marked by globalisation, digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
Béjar, who was presented at the auditorium by the ex-President of the Balearic Islands Government and now regional senator and PLPE student, José Ramón Bauzá, pointed out that the world had suffered a great deal from a combination of crisis and globalisation, and was of the opinion that “in view of this situation, figures are emerging who offer easy solutions”. This opinion about globalisation coincided with that of the Dean of the ICADE Business School, Alfredo Arahuetes, who shared the presidential table with the speaker and the general manager of the ICADE Business School, José María Pérez Garrido.
The President of Globalvía also maintained during his speech that Spain should be very proud of what it has done in infrastructures with European cohesion funds. “We have some fantastic infrastructures that should be a determining factor for Spanish competitiveness”.
Juan Béjar took advantage of another moment from his speech to refer to changes in labour models. He explained that, in his opinion, an individual now has no chance of pursuing their entire business career within the same company. “Labour relations currently entail a different dynamic and one needs to think more about being an entrepreneur than an employee, because jobs created by third parties are no longer going to exist”, he stated.
The lunch, which forms part of the entrepreneurship and innovation programmes, was presented by the Dean of the ICADE Business School, Alfredo Arahuetes, and moderated by the director of the Deusto Business School in Madrid and academic director of the PLPE and PLCE entrepreneurship programmes, Iñaki Ortega.
