The University has once again ranked among the best private universities in Spain, according to the U-Ranking, prepared by the BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (Ivie). This ranking evaluates the teaching, research and innovation activities of universities. In its tenth edition now, published on 22 June, it provides information on 72 Spanish universities (48 public and 24 private), representing 98% of the Spanish university system.
According to the overall ranking, Deusto ranks fourth, along with other universities, and is in the group of the 4 best private universities, ranking above the SUE (Spanish University System) average in indicators such as:
• % of students in international mobility programmes
• success rate
• assessment rate
• permanence rate
• budget/students
• % of postgraduate students
• European research funds/Academic and Research staff (PhD)
• Doctoral theses read/Academic and Research staff (PhD)
Likewise, Deusto also exceeds the SUE average in labour market insertion indicators such as the enrolment rate, graduate recruitment and the average contribution base of graduates.
Performance ratings
In addition to an overall position, the U-Ranking offers specific performance rankings in the teaching, research and innovation dimensions. In the comparison of results, taking into account the size of the university, Deusto was ranked 2nd in teaching and 7th in research and innovation. It is in this last area where the University of Deusto manages to be the first private university in Spain.
Postgraduate Ranking
The 2022 report provides a ranking of postgraduate education and notes the strong growth of these studies, especially in private universities, where the number of students has doubled in ten years, to 44%.
In this regard, Deusto is among the top private universities in all fields of study. Specifically in Health Sciences, Deusto is among the 15 best universities and among the top 3 private universities, together with Navarre and the European University of Madrid.
