The Technological Institute of the University of Deusto (DeustoTech) will host the African scientist, Mohera Samy Abd ElAziz Youssef, a scholarship holder from the Women for Africa Foundation, for six months to conduct her research on the improvement of cancer drugs through the use of polymers and nanoparticles.

The “Science by Women” program was born in 2014 by the Women for Africa Foundation. Since then, the program has had the commitment of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, through Bizkaia Koopera, supporting 15 African scientists to carry out postdoctoral stays in centres of excellence in the territory, including DeustoTech.

"Science by Women" makes the work of African researchers visible for the international scientific community, highlights their contribution to improving knowledge and innovation on the African continent and supports the role of women in transforming the world through Science and Technology as well. Within the programme, the formation of networks of African women scientists and their cooperation with European networks is promoted as a tool for the development of joint regional and international scientific cooperation projects.

The program contributes, mainly, to the achievement of the following Sustainable Development Goals: 1. End of Poverty, 3. Good-health and Well-being, 4. Quality Education, 5. Gender Equality, 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth, 10. Reduced Inequalities, 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities, 17. Partnerships for the Goals.
