Researchers from the Deusto Institute of Human Rights are participating in the 10th Congress, “The Time of Rights,” where over 100 specialists will discuss human rights and the most pressing current challenges. The event takes place on 22 and 23 May at the University of Valencia. The university is represented by Dolores Morondo, Asier Martínez de Bringas, Cristina Churruca, Felipe Gómez and Gorka Urrutia, who will present on topics including human rights plans, migration, human rights defenders, the genocide in Gaza, and key research on human rights.

The participants in the Congress come from 15 research centres across the country that are part of the Tiempo de los Derechos (Time of Rights) Network, which originated in 2008 when 12 research groups joined forces and secured funding through the Consolider-Ingenio 2010 Programme: ‘El tiempo de los derechos’ (The Time of Rights) — HURI-AGE. This Programme was created to promote strategic actions capable of marking a turning point and driving a leap in the quality of legal research in Human Rights. Currently, the Network comprises 15 groups and centres engaged in human rights studies, research projects, high-level scientific meetings, training structures, and advocacy reports. Intense research activity has allowed HURI-AGE to become the main Spanish academic reference in the field of human rights.
