Deusto holds a conference on 'The adaptation of cooperative societies to the digital world'.

Organised by the International Cooperative Law Association and the Institute of Cooperative Studies at the University of Deusto Law School, with the collaboration of the Basque Law Academy, the event was attended by Elena Pérez Barredo, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Basque Government.

The event brought together experts in labour law and cooperative law.

On 20 and 21 November, the University of Deusto hosted the conference "The Adaptation of Cooperative Societies to the Digital World," organised by the International Cooperative Law Association and the Institute of Cooperative Studies at the University of Deusto Law School. Kutxabank, the Basque Government and the Basque Law Academy also collaborated in organising the event. The Conference was held in a hybrid format, face-to-face and online, with a large online attendance of more than 100 participants.

The conference was opened by the Dean of the Law School, José Ramón Intxaurbe Vitorica, the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Basque Government, Elena Pérez Barredo, the representative of the Basque Law Academy, José Miguel Gorostiza, and the Director of the Institute of Cooperative Studies, Enrique Gadea Soler.

The conference addressed the issue of holding meetings via telematic means, both for the General Assembly and the Governing Board of cooperative societies, from both a Basque and national perspective. In addition, several examples of digitisation of cooperatives were presented. Finally, the consequences of digitisation and remote working on worker cooperatives were examined.
