On 21 April the University of Deusto has participated in "Zientzia Azoka 2018", a meeting gathering young people’s scientific-technology projects. The main objectives of this initiative are to foster young people’s capacities in the areas of science and technology, to raise interest in science and technology vocations, and bring young people close to the protagonists working in this field. In this sense, young researchers have come with their last year’s projects and shared a space with professional researchers from universities and technology centers.

Supporting young researchers

Amongst its objectives, Zientzia Akoka intends young people to continue with their scientific experiences. For this purpose, in addition to the support they have received for their work as researchers, they have been offered the opportunity to work in technology companies such as Euskaltel, Iberdrola, ERABI, Tecnalia Technology Corporation, as well as Neiker, IK4, CICNanogune, TZBZ Innovation Group, BTEK Technology Interpretation Center and Iruña Planetarium.

The science exhibition was sponsored by the City Council of Bilbao, the Basque Country Network for Science and Technology, FECYT Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Iberdrola, Euskaltel, Erabi and Bizkaia Talent. Likewise, MetroBilbao, Casco Viejo Zazpi Kaleak and the Association of Navarra Science Friends collaborate in this project.
