The Spanish Society of Community Nutrition (SENC) celebrated in Deusto the XV edition of its biennial National Congress and the annual meeting of the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences (AEN). Between 17 and 19 October, the University brought together not only renowned experts in the field of nutrition, but also promoted reflection on one of the most crucial issues for our society today, such as nutrition linked to issues such as sustainability, aging processes or circular gastronomy.
Among the participants, on behalf of Deusto, was professor Natalia Ojeda. And also the rector, Juan José Etxeberria, who at the closing of the Congress highlighted the importance of an interdisciplinary, collaborative and ethical approach to face the current challenges in nutrition, accentuated by the pandemic, the climate crisis and social inequalities. He also highlighted the unquestionable key role of nutrition in disease prevention, in strengthening the immune system, and in promoting a dignified and healthy life; and invited to work “with passion and determination” for an inclusive community nutrition that reaches all people.
