This agreement was signed by Jaime Oraá, Rector of the University of Deusto, and Fabienne Lallement, Attaché for educational cooperation and chairwoman of the DELF-DALF examining board, on behalf of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in Spain. Participants in this event included: the director of the Centre of Modern Languages at the University of Deusto, M Luz Suárez, the French Consul, Thierry Frayssé and the delegate for French cooperation of the French Embassy, Adelino Braz.

Thus, the Centre of Modern Languages at the University of Deusto will be the only accredited centre in Vizcaya for the different DELF (Diplme d'études de langue franaise) and DALF (Diplme approfondi de langue franaise) examinations, which are the official diplomas in French language awarded by the French Ministry of Education. They are composed of 6 independent diplomas that correspond to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe. The DELF/DALF exams correspond to 6 independent diplomas: DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2, DALF C1 and DALF C2. The other only accredited centre in the Basque Country is the French Alliance in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

The University of Deusto will be holding the first examination session in February 2008. In addition, the Centre of Modern Languages will continue to consolidate and strengthen its efforts in the design and teaching of French courses aimed at all levels and objectives, both for the university community and for the general public.
