On 21 August 2022, Rosana Mejía Caicedo (Colombian human rights defender, ACONC Senior Advisor), a participant in the Basque Protection Programme for Human Rights Defenders (year 2019), was the victim of an attack at her home.
Faced with this situation, the Directorate of Human Rights, Victims and Diversity of the Department of Equality, Justice and Social Policies of the Basque Government issued a statement condemning these events.
The Human Rights Institute, as a member of the Selection Committee of the Basque Protection Programme for Human Rights Defenders, would also like to join in this condemnation.
