The new official Master?s Degrees in Gerontology or in Mental Health and Psychological Therapies are an example of the new options available at Deusto next year, as well as the specialisation programmes in ?Intervention and Mediation with Minors in situations of Vulnerability and/or Social Conflict? and in ?Family Intervention and Mediation? or the European MAs in ?Transnational Trade Law and Finance? or in ?Law and Ethics in Biotechnology?. As for Deusto own degrees, we should mention the MA in SAP Technology Consulting and the postgraduate course in Air Conditioning Engineering-Executive.

Regarding the MA in Gerontology, although it will be officially approved this year, it is a programme that has been taught at Deusto for several years now as a Specialisation course. Its extensive experience in the field of gerontology has placed Deusto among the leading institutions in this educational field. Similarly, the MA in Mental Health and Psychological Therapies is but a reformulation of five existing postgraduate degrees. They have been combined to offer a high-quality, more competitive new postgraduate course. In addition, it includes a considerable number of supervised student placements. The institutions taking part in the organisation and teaching of this course include: Aita Menni Ospitalea Mental Health Hospital, the Basque Foundation for Mental Health Research (Omie Foundation), the Basque-Navarre School Association of Family Therapy (EVNTF), the Association for Health Promotion in Children and Adolescents and the Basque Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (ASVAR).

Another course available next academic year will be the MA in ?Intervention and Mediation with Minors in situation of Vulnerability and/or Social Conflict? and the MA in ?Intervention and Family Mediation?. The latter is aimed at preparing professionals capable of intervening with families to help them make decisions regarding their needs, circumstances, risks, main priorities and resources. It also seeks to design and implement the most appropriate interventions for each family situation. As for the postgraduate course in Intervention and Mediation with Minors, it mainly seeks to train experts capable of interacting with minors in situations of vulnerability in order to achieve changes, promote their development and improve their living conditions through the application of the appropriate intervention methods and models to each situation.

These courses keep in line with the official MA in Intervention in Cases of Violence against Women, a two-year old pioneering programme aimed at training professionals capable of dealing with the social problem of violence against women. This is achieved through the generation of behaviour patterns to help eliminate stereotypes and attitudes that promote discrimination and violence against women. In addition, these patterns of behaviour must be capable of fostering the growth, development and independence of women victims of violence, identifying their opportunities and strengths.

Concerning the postgraduate course in SAP Technology Consulting, it is a response to the increasing demand for specialised professionals both in SAP technical and functional consulting. We should not forget that 39,000 companies worldwide and over 3,700 in Spain rely on SAP applications to run their business; hence, the need to train experts in this technological field.
