On 25 June, the University held the 12th Conference on Teaching Innovation and Quality, an essential event to continue strengthening the university community around learning, innovation, and continuous improvement. The aim of the conference is to provide members of Deusto and other Unijes centres with the opportunity to share and learn about best practices developed at their universities, so that these can serve as models and guidance for other initiatives.

On this occasion, the conference focused on Deusto’s transversal competences and their development (1: Self-awareness, ethics, social and environmental responsibility, and openness to transcendence; 2: Teamwork and leadership; 3: Entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity; 4: Oral and written communication in multicultural environments; 5: Deep, autonomous and critical learning; and 6: Digital skills).

To address this, Francisco José Ruiz Pérez, SJ, gave the lecture entitled: "How to prepare ourselves to transform ourselves: transversal competences, the UD seal" in which he invited us to rethink educational work from the comprehensive perspective of the UD seal competencies, which cover self-awareness, ethics, social and environmental responsibility, and openness to transcendence.

Additionally, participants presented scientific posters exhibited in the cloister, which highlighted best teaching practices linked to transversal competences. Following this, approximately thirty innovative projects were presented and experienced first-hand in the classrooms. A dynamic space, moderated by Luana Ferreira, Paula Comellas, Ángela García, Patricia Peña, Garazi Azanza and Jessica Paños.
