San Sebastian Campus
Two student teams from Business Administration degree and the Double Degree in Business Administration and Computer Engineering have developed their final degree projects in collaboration with Ibermática, delving into the new digital realities in the world of finance and banking. This alliance between the two entities will be extended this summer with the possibility for students to do internships in the technology company in the same field.
Deusto Business School (DBS) and Ibermática are moving forward in the evolution of a collaboration programme that aims to establish relations between the talent of the educational institution and the technology company. This is achieved through the design of an end-of-degree pathway and specialised internships in finance and banking and IT, aimed at business administration students and students on the Double Degree in Business Administration +Computer Engineering at DBS-San Sebastian campus. These are are carried out under the monitoring and support of an academic tutor and a tutor at the host company.
Specifically, two undergraduate final year projects were developed this year under the academic supervision of Laura Baselga, lecturer and researcher in the Economics and Finance department, and with the collaboration of Gonzalo Vargas Isasti, manager of the Financial Services and Insurance area of Ibermática in the northern region.
The projects focused on realities such as cryptocurrencies and fintech. Specifically, the project 'Monedas Digitales. Cryptomonedas y Central Bank Digital Currency.´ was developed by Martín de Bernardo Garmendia, Xabier García Pastoriza and Jon Villafranca Alonso, three Business Administration students; on the other hand, the project ‘Las Fintech: sustitutivas o complementarias al sistema financiero tradicional', carried out by Unai Arambarri Yeregui, Juan Cendoya Etxeberria, Iker Galarza Rodríguez, Paul Hernández Guridi and Pablo Sarobe Ezponda.
Moreover, to further develop these subjects, Ibermática offers internships during the summer to DBS students so that they can continue to make progress along the aforementioned lines, as well as get to know and attract talent from Deusto Business School.
Thanks to this type of collaboration with Ibermática and other companies with high technological potential, DBS students learn more about information technologies, not only to get to know the technology in question, but also its current and potential applications and developments in the world of finance and banking.
