leyre.arrieta@deusto.esLEYRE ARRIETA ALBERDI holds a BA in Geography and History and a PhD in Modern History from the University of Deusto. She is currently a tenured professor at the San Sebastian campus of the University of Deusto.Arrieta teaches various subjects to undergraduate students of Communication, namely, ¿Today¿s world¿ (1st year of the degree), ¿Frameworks to interpret the Current Reality¿ (2nd year of the degree), and ¿Social Challenges and Dilemmas¿ (3rd year of the degree). She gives all her lecturers in the Basque language.Her publications mainly focus on Basque nationalism, Basques living in exile, Europeanism and the history of Media. In recent years, she has carried out research on the existing document archives of the First Basque Government and on symbols of Basque nationalism. She has two six-year research periods (2013).Arrieta is part of the Communication research team, which has been recognised (A level) by the Basque Government and she takes part in interuniversity research projects.Her research interests include musical symbolism, the role of the media in the perception of reality and, in general, both modern and current history of the Basque Country.
