Waste4Think project recognised as the best innovative solution in the category of Smart Cities

The Horizon 2020 project “Moving Towards Life Cycle Thinking by Integrating Advanced Waste Management Systems - Waste4Think” coordinated by DeustoTech Energy Group has received a Katerva Award. The Katerva Award is the pinnacle of global sustainability recognition.The award identifies the best ideas on the planet and help them to be refined and accelerated towards impact at a global level.

The project has been recognised as the best innovative solution in the category of Smart Cities in 2018 out of 1500 candidates. With this award the project is a candidate to receive the Katerva Grand Prize.

The main objective of the project is to move forward the current waste management practices into a circular economy motto, demonstrating the value of integrating and validating a set of 20 eco-innovative solutions that cover all the waste value chain. The benefits of these solutions will be enhanced by a holistic waste data management methodology, and will be demonstrated in 4 complementary urban areas in Europe.
