Luz Emparanza Berciatúa, Director of AENOR regional office in the Basque Country, presented Jaime Oraá, Rector of the University of Deusto, with this award. Other participants in this ceremony were: Aurelio Villa, Vice-Rector for Quality and Innovation, and Nieves Taranco and Carmen Navarrete, Directors of the libraries in Bilbao and San Sebastian, respectively. According tothe Rector, Jaime Oraá, this award means one step further towards the achievement of the commitments acquired by the University of Deusto in relation to quality within its Strategic Plan. In his opinion, anything that is undertaken by Deusto must be noted for its quality. And it is particularly significant to him that the Library has been the first university service to obtain this quality award, as it is the key centre at the University, and now more than ever, as a result of the European convergence in which the student has become the main protagonist of his own learning. This award, which ensures that the Library at Deusto complies with the standard requirements, means significant improvements in user attention and satisfaction, since it guarantees the commitment to improvement in the provision of services through the implementation of a quality management system that includes the main Library processes, such as acquisitions, cataloguing, consultation, loans, etc.
