The first group of Graduates in Sociology, with a specialism in Social Intervention, will complete their studies this year. This degree was reorganised last year, in accordance with the new syllabus, which enables holders of a diploma in Social Work to pursue a second cycle of specialisation in Sociology. The new graduates may perform their work in public and private institutions, in the field of drug dependencies, education, etc; in departments of Social Action in public bodies (Town Councils) to work in the sections devoted to women, youth, third age or immigration; in NGOs, planning programmes, management and assessment of specific projects or in Entities of Social Assistance and Intervention such as reception centres, day centres, residences for elderly people, etc.
