Paula del Barrio Torres, a 5th year student on the double degree in Law + Communication, was named winner of the 22nd Young Lawyers Award hosted by the Centro de Estudios Garrigues for her work in the field of Business Law, along with 12 other young people. On Monday 6 June, Centro de Estudios Garrigues presented the diplomas for the 22nd Young Lawyers Award, which recognises young talent and rewards excellence in the knowledge and practice of business law. This competition, hosted by Centro de Estudios Garrigues, is aimed at final-year law students from any university, and is based on the written drafting and subsequent oral defence of an opinion on a practical business law case, in both its theoretical and practical aspects.
The award ceremony was held at the headquarters of Centro de Estudios Garrigues and was attended by leading figures from the social and legal spheres such as María Angels García Vidal, director general for the Public Justice Service; Fernando Vives, chairman of Garrigues; Félix Plaza Romero, chairman of Centro de Estudios Garrigues; José María Alonso Puig, dean of the Madrid Bar Association and Miguel Carmelo, chairman of the Europa Education Group.
Promoting excellence in business law
Participation in these awards involves taking a complex two-part examination: a five-hour written report on a case related to business law and a subsequent oral defence. Both the judging panel and the organising institutions would like to thank all candidates for their participation and congratulate them on their work. In 2022, the panel was made up of renowned jurists such as José Maria Alonso Puig, Alberto de Martín Muñoz, Eduardo María Valpuesta Gastaminza, Pablo Olábarri Gortázar and José Ramón Martínez Jiménez.
