On 20 May 2020, the University of Deusto has launched the “Inspira STEAM at home” initiative, consisting of a cycle of live open interviews taking place every 15 days to give visibility to scientist and technologist women. The online initiative was born in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced the suspension of the school sessions.

On 1 July 2020, the initiative counted with the presence of Estibaliz and Xabier Díaz Silvestre (siblings, and both mentors of the Inspira STEAM Project) who talked about how starting from a scientific vocation their professional evolution has been uneven, the different difficulties they have encountered in their respective careers, and discussed about the myths and gender biases that surround scientific professions.

Estíbaliz Díaz Silvestre has a PhD in Science from UPV / EHU in the specialty of Biology and Ecosystems and she currently works as a senior researcher at AZTI-BRT. Xabier Díaz Silvestre has a degree in Physical Sciences from UPV / EHU in the specialty of Electronics and Automation and he is currently part of the Cooperation and Services Area of the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park.
