The Faculty of Law launches a pioneering initiative with a European Moot Court exercise on International Trade.

From 17 to 26 September, the University of Deusto held a Course on Transnational Trade Law. During this course, a Moot Court exercise was prepared, which was a pioneering initiative in our Autonomous Community.Students taking part in this activity had to solve a real case study on International Trade, which involved finding the most appropriate solutions based on their client?s interests. Therefore, during the Moot Court exercise held last 25 September in the High Court of Justice of the Basque Country, they ?defended the position of the company they represented?.The Board examining the students was made up of two judges, a member of Bilbao Chamber of Commerce and four practicing lawyers.

This activity seeks to provide Law students with the necessary competences involved in the practice of law in real life. Both the course and the Moot Court exercise were held entirely in English, the primary language of international trade and essential for any professional in this field.

This year, it was organised by the Faculty of Law, and it was followed by 70 students from USA and 12 European universities.Twenty lecturers from these same universities, law firms and international bodies shared their knowledge and experiences by means of innovative teaching methodologies (use of internet as a legal source, debriefing, development of oral and written skills, video-training, etc.).
