The S4SYMB project co-financed by 4Gune (Engineering, Science and Technology Cluster of the Basque Country 4Gune) within the Euskampus Foundation, and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has received a Mention within the "Good Practices in University Social Commitment Award" of the call for Campus of International Excellence Aristos Campus Mundus.

The project was developed as a continuation of RENSKILL (Identification of the Skills and Competences Needed for the Professionals in the Renewable Energy Sector of the Future); This predecessor was also financed by the same entities, also obtaining another award (the Deusto Social Impact Research Seal). Between both, RENSKILL and S4SYMB, the spectrum of redesign of job profiles has been broadened towards greater sustainability, starting with renewable energies, and then moving on to energy efficiency and industrial symbiosis. As a result of this, several works and publications have been generated, of which the following two are in open access: the article “Definition of the Future Skills Needs of Job Profiles in the Renewable Energy Sector” (recognized as one of the articles with the most citations by the same magazine) and the recent “Identifying Future Skill Requirements of the Job Profiles for a Sustainable European Manufacturing Industry 4.0

The work carried out and the results obtained by the project team (Aitor Goti, Tugce Akyazi, Aitor Oyarbide, Irene Arcelay and Patricia del Val) envision future activity in the area of future competencies towards sustainability encompassing an ever-wider scope.
