Dolores Morondo, Head of Research of the Human Rights Institute of the University of Deusto, presented the report on the situation of LGTBI (lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual and intersex) with international protection needs in Northern Central America at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 12 December 2018.

The study was commissioned by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and prepared in collaboration with the UNHCR, within the framework of the Spanish actions in the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration. The study takes the specific cases of Guatemala and Mexico and examine the challenges and good practices in the reception and integration of people in need of international protection. It presents recommendations to improve the current regional Action Plan, known as MIRPS, and which constitutes one of the two regional pilot experiences of the Global Compact.
