Ángel Uzquiza, Innovation Manager of Santalucía Seguros, spoke at the February meeting of the Deusto Business School Corporate Entrepreneurship Club. He gave the attendees advice focused on boosting innovation within their organisations. In his opinion, alignment of human resources and communications departments is vital, although this is also necessary with the legal, technology, marketing and other areas. “They must consider innovation as a projects facilitator, get involved in them and make them their own", he stated.
Introduced by Iñaki Ortega, Director of Deusto Business School in Madrid, and by Prof. Francisco González-Bree, expert in innovation, Uzquiza revealed that an industry like insurance, which was traditional a priori, can become a leader in innovation.
In this respect, not only did Uzquiza speak about projects such as Santalucía Impulsa, the Santalucía Seguros accelerator programme to develop innovative projects and set up collaboration with different startups through an open innovation model. He also explained others, such as the exclusively internally developed initiative in their new products and services portfolio derived from new technology tendencies such as the Internet of Things. He also referred to recognition systems in customer service that boost savings and enhance the company-client experience.
The monthly Deusto Business School Entrepreneurship Club meetings feature talks by leading corporate entrepreneurship and open innovation firms. This stable event, a discussion and knowledge forum, focuses on the best international practices in open innovation. Its aim is to prompt better change management in big companies with help from entrepreneurs and innovators.
Firms like BBVA, Telefónica, Sacyro and IBM have taken part in these meetings.
