The University of Deusto participated in the 10th European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education, held in Dublin on 20-22 August 2018. The Conference gathered hundreds of gender equality practitioners, researchers, policy makers and administrators from Europe and beyond. The conference provided a international forum to discuss and exchange information and experiences on the challenges related to gender in academia and gender equality promotion.

In the framework of the conference, a new European Charter to promote Gender Equality in the University sector was launched in Trinity College Dublin. The Charter forms part of the EU Horizon 2020  SAGE (Systemic Action for Gender Equality) project. It aims at building a stronger commitment to gender equality in higher education and research institutions through 12 principles supporting structural, cultural and political change to eradicate sexism, bias and other forms of discrimination in research and higher education, as well as to advance an intersectional and inclusive concept of gender.
