A delegation from the Transport Economic Centre of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Maribor (Slovenia) has visited DeustoTech and the University of Deusto on 12 February 2019. The visit aimed to get acquainted with both Universities’ research teams and to explore opportunities for collaboration in the framework of potential future European projects in the areas of transportation, logistics and urban mobility. During the meeting some successful European projects coordinated by the University of Deusto and DeustoTech (TIMON, PostLowCit, Waste4Think and Logistar) were presented.
This first contact between the two institutions was initiated in 2018 based on identified synergies in the area of mobility and urban logistics. Specifically, disability inclusion issues were explored as part of the PhD project of the researcher Nataša Rebernik, who is working in DEUSTO within the framework of the DIRS-COFUND project financed by the European Commission. She has visited the Transport Economic Centre of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at University of Maribor for one of her research stays and contributed to users’ research for the development of an integrated indoor and outdoor navigation system, designed particularly responding to the needs of disabled people.
The visits resulted in a list of potential collaboration opportunities, such as collaboration in European projects, joint research and students and staff mobility secondments.
