The new Cost Action, NET4AGEFRIENDLY (International Interdisciplinary Network on Smart Healthy Age-friendly Environments) will be launched in October 2020 to promote social inclusion, independent living and active and healthy ageing. NET4AGE-FRIENDLY will establish an interdisciplinary network of researchers and stakeholders from 38 countries. Deusto Research Interdisciplinary Platform on Ageing and Wellbeing will channel the expertise of a team including Aitor Almeida, Amaia Mendez, Roberto Nuño, Esther Lazaro, Natalia Ojeda, Usue Beloki, Begoña Garcia Zapirain and Sara Ponce. Moreover, Toñi Caro, Director of the International Research Project Office, has been nominated as Full Member of the Managing Committee.
NET4AGE-FRIENDLY aims to foster awareness and to support the creation and implementation of smart, healthy indoor and outdoor environments for present and future generations. The main approach is the establishment of local or regional ecosystems in each country involved, to work on health and well-being in an age-friendly digital world. They will be supported by 5 thematic Working Groups:
- User-centred inclusive design in age-friendly environments and communities;
- Integrated health and well-being pathways;
- Digital solutions and large-scale sustainable implementation;
- Policy development, funding forecast and cost-benefit evaluations; and
- Reference Framework.
