Within the framework of the European project SALL "Schools as Living Lab" (https://www.schoolsaslivinglabs.eu), the University of Deusto has organised an online meeting between schools and social agents of the food system to discuss current / actual challenges related to food, health and sustainability.

The European project SALL involves 13 countries and above 500 schools around the world to extend the "living lab" methodology. A methodology based on the identification of real and local problems, co-creation between social agents and schools to find solutions and, the development of prototypes to help challenges identified to be addressed. A participatory/collaborative methodology which connects schools with their local community and focuses on the development of STEAM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).

At the workshop, social agents participated / were present / were involved such as: Eduardo Cifrian Head of the Eroski Foundation's Food School,Ana Cuevas Eroski's Commercial Mix Director, Marcelino Hernández on behalf of/representing the Bizkaia Food Bank, Salva Aledo from the Alava Food Bank, Iker Arrizabalaga Head of Department of the Higher Degree in Processes and Quality in the Food Industry at CIFP Don Bosco LHII, Antton Alza on behalf of/representing / from ELIKA, foundation promoted by the Basque Government to improve Food Safety in the Basque Country and Ainara Zarraga, Head of Communication at NEIKER, Basque Institute for Agricultural Research and Development.

At the end of the session, there was an open discussion between teachers and local social agents to further deepen challenges raised and/ as well as to identify possible synergies to continue collaborating in the future within the educational sector .
