The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Deusto and DeustoTech participated in the kick off meeting of the new Horizon 2020 Project SENATOR (Smart Network Operator Platform enabling Shared, Integrated and more Sustainable Urban Freight Logistics), which took place between 22 and 24 September.

The project will be coordinated by Sociedad Estatal Correos y Telégrafos (Spain) and will count with 12 partners distributed across 5 different countries. The University of Deusto will assume the role of technical leader.

SENATOR will provide 4 governance schemes for urban planning policies:

  • User demand planning,
  • Transport planning,
  • Freight & Logistics planning, and
  • City infrastructure.

The expected impacts of the project are:

  • to have a clear understanding of cost effective strategies, measures and tools to achieve essentially zero emission city logistics in major European urban centres by 2030, and
  • to provide with the inputs for the preparation and implementation of sustainable urban logistic plans (SULPs) and/or sustainable urban mobility plans (SUMPs) and other planning (private and public side) tools, such as big data and real-time traffic management.
