The first Annual Conference of the GEARING-Roles Project has been held in Lisbon on 27 November 2019 under the title of “Recruitment, Retention and Career Progression of Women in Academia”.

The conference successfully stimulated active and reciprocal exchanges between the project partners, sister projects, experts on gender equality, students, graduates, researchers and policy-makers.

GEARING-Roles is a four-year European Commission funded project, coordinated by the University of Deusto, that aims to increase gender equality in research institutions. The project is implemented by a strong multidisciplinary consortium of 10 European academic and non-academic partners that will design, implement, and evaluate 6 Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) following the steps described in the GEAR tool (define, plan, act and check). The objective of the project is to challenge and transform gender roles and identities linked to professional careers, and work towards real institutional change.
