The IX University Conference of Innovation and Quality was held on 27 November at the University of Deusto. The Conference aimed at making visible the good university staff practices and to provide a possible guide for other staff, focussing on the responses to the demands and additional interests of the students beyond the established learning objectives.
During the event, 5 good practices related to gender issues were identified:
- “Women's rights are also human rights”, by María López and David Fernández. This practice seeks to analyse the Human Rights from a feminist perspective by reviewing the ICCPR (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights) from gender mainstreaming, as well as the specific treaty on discrimination against women CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women)
- Teachers, an experience on gender equality, by Javier Aguirregabiria. “It reflects on the discrimination situation historically suffered by women in relation to science, preparing a presentation of the biography of a scientist relevant to humanity and analysing articles related to women and science, to raise awareness of the discrimination suffered in this field and of the need for gender equality”
- Coeducational pedagogy and gender mainstreaming, by Estibaliz Linares, Raquel Royo and María Silvestre. “Co-education has a pedagogical and political objective, so that citizens can develop better, with a more critical attitude, allowing them to analyse social structures, aspiring to universalise autonomy, equality and freedom”.
- Women and Neuropsychology, by Natalia Ojeda, Naroa Ibarretxe, Acebo García and Leire Zubiaurre. “After completing the practice, students understand the contribution of various neuroscientists into the field of biology; they can also analyse the contents and contributions made by women in the history of science”.
- Evaluating the social impact in the development of algorithms, by Borja Sanz and Iker Pastor: “The development of students critical sense when designing algorithms and the analysis of the related biases”.
