The Kineage project, by DeustoTech LIFE/ eVida research group of the University of Deusto, in collaboration with the Misericordia Nursing Home of Bilbao, has been selected as one of the case studies included in the publication “Social Innovation for Active an Healthy Ageing- A Case Study Collection”, edited by the King Badouin Foundation, in collaboration with Fundación La Caixa, Erste Stiftung and Fundazione UniCredit. The publication lists the 20 most promising social innovations in the field of active and healthy ageing and analyze them regarding their impact, barriers and scaling-up potential.

Within the Kineage project, financed by the Regional Government of Biscay and finalist of the Social Innovation in Ageing European Award, a game in 3D has been developed to help the elderly to exercise by having fun together. Kineage is a serious game for the elderly, configurable to different physical disabilities, promoting exercise and leisure. As mentioned in the publication, what distinguishes this solution to other products available in the market is that it can be used even by those in wheelchairs and it can be adapted to the particular needs of the users. This way, exercise, rehabilitation and the enjoyment of an accessible leisure is promoted while also reducing the digital divide.
