Bernadette Louise Halili earned her Ph.D. in Economic Integration (Extraordinary Doctorate Award in Economics 2025, Sobresaliente cum laude) and Master’s degree in International Studies, both from the University of the Basque Country, and her Bachelor’s degree Majoring in Economics (Best Undergraduate Thesis in Economics, Honourable Mention), with a Minor in Spanish from the Ateneo de Manila University. In 2024, she was also awarded the Mark Hayes Prize by the Post-Keynesian Economics Society. Her research interests include international political economy, institutions, development, and public policy in the Global South and AI literacy and active learning in higher education. She has published articles on various topics such as academic performance among Filipino schoolchildren and cross-country income inequality, in several journals such as Eurasian Geography and Economics and The Journal of International Trade and Economic Development. She has also published a book chapter and is a reviewer for Palgrave Macmillan books.
