Roberto GARAY MARTINEZ (Bilbao, 1984), Ingeniero Industrial por la Escuela Superior de Ingeniería de Bilbao (UPV-EHU, 2008) y Doctor en Ingeniería por la Universidad de Lleida (2017). Soy investigador en energía en edificación desde 2008. Actualmente soy Investigador Principal en el Deusto Sustainable Research Group de la Universidad de Deusto. Anteriormente (2008-2022) desarrollé mi actividad en tecnalia. A lo largo de mi carrera, he participado en la conceptualización, desarrollo y experimentación de sistemas energéticos y de aislamiento térmico en la edificación. Inicié mi carrera como analista energético realizando modelos dinámicos de sistemas energéticos y análisis de transmisión de calor mediante cálculos por elementos finitos. Y posteriormente desarrollé gran parte de mi actividad en el ámbito experimental en la infraestructura KUBIK by Tecnalia. Y durante los últimos años, he desarrollado un mix de todo lo anterior. En el período 2015-2022 he sido Líder de Tecnología en Física del Edificio y Gestor de Proyectos en la División de Transición Energética, Climática y Urbana de Tecnalia. Entre otras tareas, he sido el coordinador del proyecto RELaTED, dónde se desarrollan sistemas de calefacción de distrito de baja temperatura basados en energías renovables. Por todo ello, tengo intereses en áreas diversas tales como la optimización de la transmisión de calor en sistemas de anclaje en sistemas de aislamiento térmico; la mejora del rendimiento de sistemas solares integrados en la edificación; y la adecuación de políticas de descarbonización a sistemas energéticos. En los últimos años, estoy singularmente interesado en los procesos de análisis energéticos basados en datos, la calibración de modelos de edificios, y sus posibilidades de explotación en el ámbito de la Medida y Verificación de Rendimientos/Ahorros energéticos a través de plataformas de gestión de la energía. A lo largo de mi carrera, he presenciado grandes cambios en el ámbito de la energía en el entorno construido de la mano de la implantación y progresivo avance de los códigos energéticos en la edificación, la popularización de las tecnologías de ventilación, recuperación de calor, bombas de calor, sistemas solares, etc…, la digitalización acelerada y la introducción de los procesos de analítica de datos de forma masiva. Y tengo curiosidad por saber lo que viene después.
